Is the Focus Tree shared across the squad?
No. Each Operator has their own tree. Points on a dead hire do not move.
Searching star wars zero company talents or focus tree? In STAR WARS Zero Company, a Talent is one always-on trait per Operator — not a class ability and not a loadout you swap between missions. Authored Operators keep a named unique. Custom hires pick from a universal pool at creation. You rank Talents (and the rest of the kit) by spending Focus Points in The Den. Bonds are the main faucet. A Talent sits under whatever Specialization the Operator is holding. Respec the class in Personnel and the Talent comes along unchanged. Created Operators choose from ten universal picks; the eleventh listed name is Built-In Comlink, locked to Astromech. Public build sheets also list these ten as the custom pool.
| Talent | What public sources say | Best as |
|---|---|---|
| A Life of Labor | Extra health and defense — safest generic pick | Any class, first custom hire |
| Grit | Temporary invulnerable window that ignores an incoming hit | Front-liners you cannot afford to Down |
| Fortitude | Extra defense while Injured | Permadeath-on runs |
| Anticipation | Evade incoming attacks | Squishy Scouts / Sharpshooters |
| Taunt | Force enemies to swing at this Operator | Heavy / Assault peel |
| Cold Blooded | Vicious status for landing crits more easily | Crit-leaning Gunslinger / Scoundrel |
| The Bigger They Are | Damage bonus vs the most dangerous targets on the field | Boss / Elite maps |
| Sabotage | Detonate objects on the battlefield | Maps with explosive props |
| Thievery | Extra Credits at mission end — does not stack on a team | One economy hire, not three |
| Espionage | Extra Intel at mission end — does not stack on a team | One Intel hire so Operations do not expire |
| Built-In Comlink | Astromech-only | Droid builds — not a human pool pick |
You do not swap Talents between missions. Authored names are locked to who they are. Custom hires lock the pick at creation. If a hire’s Talent is wrong for the role you now want, recruit another hire — do not expect a Talent respec on the same body.
Thievery and Espionage pay Credits and Intel, not hit chance. Early Cycles, extra Intel is often the better faucet because Operations expire and the Holotable offers more jobs than you can fund. Put Espionage on one Operator. A second copy is wasted.
Some ranks are number bumps. Some change what the Talent does. Community examples: Jae’s Final Shot raises the HP threshold it triggers on; Trick’s For My Brothers improves the health and Injury resistance of the self-revive. Do not assume Rank 3 is “the same effect, bigger.”
The currency that buys those ranks is Focus. Next section.
The Focus Tree is the per-Operator spend screen in The Den. Focus Points are the campaign currency you drop into Talent ranks, abilities, passives, and (later) Specialization. Official trailer copy is direct: grow Operator Bonds to gain Focus Points and stat bonuses. Missions and Operations also pay Focus. This page is the overview — a node-by-node planner is a planned P1 /focus-tree page, not this one.

Advantage is the in-fight shared pool (cap 10) you spend on specials without using AP. Focus is the between-missions currency. Mixing the two names is the usual beginner confuse. Fight with Advantage; rank kits with Focus. Combat loop: combat.
There is no shared squad Focus Tree. Points you dump into a custom hire do not transfer if that hire permadeaths. That is why you rank the four bodies you actually deploy, not the tenth bench hire you recruited for flavor.
Build sites list Talent Rank 1–3. Launch videos argue 4 vs 6. This wiki will not pick a fake cap. Open the tree in your client and read the last node. Until then, plan as if early ranks matter more than a theoretical max.
Knowing the faucet is not the same as a spend order. Next: what to buy first.

Do not save every point for one fantasy endgame build. The campaign is long (public claims cluster around 30–50 hours depending on injury resets and optional maps). Rank the Talent and passives on the four Operators who will be on the next Critical mission.
| Priority | Spend on | Skip until |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The unique Talent on Hawks, Trick, and whoever else is in the current four | Bench hires |
| 2 | One economy Talent if you are Intel-starved (Espionage on a single hire) | A second Espionage / Thievery copy |
| 3 | Survivability ranks on authored Exotics (Tel-Rea, Cly) you cannot recraft | Cosmetic nodes |
| 4 | Dual / Secondary Specialization once it unlocks (community timing conflict: ~Cycle 18 vs Luco recruit — unverified) | Before the unlock exists |
Launch footage calls out saving all Focus for one build as a bad first session. Rank something you will fire on the next map. You can refund. A dead pile of points does not Cross Train anyone.
If Focus is dry, the problem is usually the pair track, not the tree. Deploy the same two names, Call for Backup, talk in The Den, then come back to Personnel. Bonds is the faucet page.
Authored Operators do not pick from the ten-name pool. Their Talent is the character. Exact numbers shift by rank and patch — treat the table as a role reminder, not a calculator. Full kits belong on operators.
| Operator | Unique Talent | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Fearless Leader | Confirmed unique talent. Community: aura for squad assist / defense while standing. Map-fail on Downs: verify. | |
| For My Brothers | Community talent name — self-revive once per mission (verify ranks). | |
| Uppercut | Melee rush / knockback — official footage pairs with Force Push. Exact AP refund: community. | |
| Final Shot | Community: execute below a HP threshold after an ally attack — verify window. | |
| Strong with the Force | Harmony / Force kit on Jedi Padawan lock — dies with her if permadeath is on. | |
| Combat Jump | Jetpack leap (Advantage cost, 0 AP in community reports) on the Mandalorian lock. | |
| Combat Gas | Community talent / stacks — late unlock timing unverified (Cycle 18 vs Luco recruit conflict). | |
| Astromech (custom droid) | Built-In Comlink | Pool exception in community captures — droid-only, not a human hire pick. |
Jedi Padawan and Mandalorian Warrior are locks. A custom Operator can take Taunt or Grit; they cannot take Strong with the Force or Combat Jump. Protect Tel-Rea and Cly harder than a replaceable hire.
When you are ready to put a ranked Talent on a four-person map, the next page is missions.
No. Each Operator has their own tree. Points on a dead hire do not move.
Primarily Bonds. Missions and Operations also pay Focus. Confirm extra sources on the Holotable tooltip.
Authored Talents are fixed. Custom hires pick at creation. Class respec does not replace the Talent. Recruit a new hire if the pick is wrong.
No. One of each on a squad is the useful cap. Three Thievery Operators waste the extra copies.
