Are STAR WARS Zero Company missions randomly generated?
Levels are handcrafted; enemy placement is described as procedural. You will recognize the map and not the exact pack spots.
Searching star wars zero company missions or operations? STAR WARS Zero Company splits field work in two. Tactical Missions are 4-operator turn-based fights on handcrafted maps. Operations are non-combat Holotable jobs that spend Intel, move influence, and can still injure or Bond the squad. Both sit inside Cycles. Some jobs expire if you ignore them. A Tactical Mission is the isometric fight: deploy up to four Operators, spend 3 AP each turn, bank Advantage, use cover and flanks. Story / Critical maps typically require Hawks in the four. Rewards cluster around Credits, Weapon Mods, Utilities, Focus Points, and Zone Influence. Maps are handcrafted; enemy placement is described as procedural — the layout is authored, the pack spots are not a fixed script.

| Tactical fact | Play it as |
|---|---|
| No fog of war (preview) | Many previews show enemy placement at deploy — confirm in your build; plan flanks before the first AP |
| Reinforcements | Most maps call more enemies if you ignore the objective |
| Hawks on story beats | Custom hires fill the other three slots |
| Call for Backup | Assist + Bond tick — see bonds |
| Downed → Injury | Rally saves the body; three Injuries can permadeath anyone but Hawks |
| Chained maps | Some Critical beats cutscene into a second fight — Bond caps carry across |
Because every hostile is visible, the XCOM habit of creeping into fog is the wrong opener. Mark priority targets, crossfire lanes, and cover before anybody moves. Aggressive splits are legal when they delete a Dangerous enemy early. The counterweight is reinforcements: if the objective is a terminal or an extract, killing every droid first is how the map floods.
If the tracker says eliminate remaining hostiles, the map ends on the last kill. Community Bond farmers leave a melee unit parked while they finish Backup caps. If the objective is not a wipe, do not stall — the reinforcement timer does not care that you wanted one more stim tick.
Treat injuries in Medbay / Bacta, slot mods in the Armory, and spend Focus in Personnel first. A Tactical Mission is a bad time to discover an Operator is one Injury from permadeath. Prep loop: The Den. Combat budget: combat.
The other Holotable column is not a fight. Next: Operations.
Operations are the non-combat half of star wars zero company missions. You resolve them from the Holotable as text / choice jobs — intel gathering, bribes, cantina brawls, and similar. They spend Intel, pay Credits / mods / utilities / influence, can shift Bonds, and can still injure or kill an Operator if a choice goes loud. A dedicated /operations planner page is P1 if search volume grows; this section is the campaign rule.

| Layer | Tactical Mission | Operation |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Isometric fight | Holotable · text / choice |
| Cost | Risk, Injuries, time on the clock | Intel (and sometimes a bad choice) |
| Squad | Up to 4 Operators on the board | Named Operators can still be the ones who go |
| Pays | Credits, mods, utilities, Focus, influence | Same reward types, plus relationship / faction levers |
| Can injure? | Yes — Downed → Injury | Yes — community reports of fights inside Operations |
| Bond? | Deploy + Backup + paired actions | Running the job together still ticks the pair |
Tactical clears feed Intel; Intel funds Operations; Operations pay the economy that kits the next fight. Launch notes are consistent: more Operations pop than you have Intel to complete. You will skip jobs. Skip vanity influence before you skip a job that funds Medbay or a Weapon Mod slot.
The Espionage Talent pays extra Intel at mission end and does not stack on a team. One copy on a custom hire is the usual faucet when jobs are expiring. Details: talents.
An Operation can move faction influence, sour or raise a Bond, or upgrade an enemy you will fight later. Treat the prompt as a Holotable decision, not a skippable lore popup. If a choice offers a fight, remember Injuries from Operations still count toward permadeath.
Jobs also sit on a clock. Next: Cycles and expiry.

A Cycle is the campaign clock. Community explainers treat one Cycle as “essentially one tactical mission,” with extra room inside it for Operations, Den talk, and facility work. Completing a Tactical Mission starts the next Cycle. Some Holotable jobs show a time window and expire if you let Cycles tick past them.
| Inside a Cycle | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Tactical Mission | The clock-advance action — finishing it rolls a new Cycle |
| Operations | Spend Intel before the listing expires |
| The Den | Medbay, Armory, Personnel / Focus, conversations, recruitment |
| Injury waits | Bed rest can take a Cycle; Bacta can clear faster (community: instant) |
| Timed listings | Ignore them and they drop off the Holotable |
If you launch a Tactical Mission with two expiring Operations still on the board and no Intel, those jobs are gone. The Den is for prep; the Holotable is for the spend decision. Walk the timer column first.
Community playthroughs flag Secondary Specialization and some authored unlocks around Cycle 18 or after recruiting Luco — reports conflict. Treat either as a planning horizon, not a spoiler timer. You still Bond and rank Talents from Cycle 1 — do not sit idle waiting for an unverified number.
Timers are one pressure. Difficulty tags are the other.
Public mission copy tags tactical jobs Risky, Dangerous, or Extreme, and marks story advancement as Critical. This wiki will not invent HP tables per tag. Read them as kit checks: Extreme with two Injuries on an authored Exotic is how permadeath campaigns end.
| Tag | Treat as | Deploy rule |
|---|---|---|
| Risky | Opening / side tactical | Fine for testing a new hire or a fresh Talent rank |
| Dangerous | Real Injury chance | Full cover plan, Advantage banked, Medbay empty before you launch |
| Extreme | Campaign-tax maps | Do not bring a two-Injury authored Operator; consider the permadeath toggle |
| Critical | Main-plot beat — not optional flavor | Hawks in the four; do not skip for a side Operation |
Optional Operations and side tacticals can alter influence and Bonds. Critical missions move the Clone Wars plot against the Infinite Coil. If the Holotable shows a Critical listing with a timer, that is the Cycle’s job. Side Extreme brawls wait.
Separatist maps like Ion. Infinite Coil maps lean Force-empowered infantry. Outlaws win on numbers. Faction notes: enemies. Weapon AP costs: weapons.
Public campaign length sits around 30–40 hours in some roundups and 40–50 in launch-week playthroughs. Injury resets, expired jobs, and optional maps swing it. A /how-long-to-beat page is P1. Play the next Critical, not a speedrun clock.

You can prioritize fights, but Intel, utilities, influence, and some Bond ticks come from Operations. Jobs also expire — skipping is a spend decision, not a “later” pile.
